How We Started
I started my career in Plastering, but my passion was always in fitness. I became involved with Kick boxing from a young age and won many titles.
As I got older I decided that I wanted to turn my hobby into my career. I started out in total fitness and work there for a number of years. When those doors closed I was in a very bad place, with a wife, kids a mortgage I was left with no choice but to work anywhere I could. I had lots of jobs in varies local gyms, running classes and personal training, early mornings late nights anything I could do to keep my dream alive.
After a while I decided it was time to take the step and go out on my own. I first set up airfield boxing club which was a huge success after that I set up Body Transformations and found a premises in Baldydoyle industrial estate above a garage . It was a huge risk but one I was willing to take.
It all started in Sept 2012. A couple of weeks before the opening I met with Kelley Connor a mutual friend of ours put us in contact. We hit it off straight away. The studio was booming and after only 5 short months it was time to move premises to somewhere a little more professional.
We moved across the road to a bigger studio with a separate PT room and spin room. We were happy enough but the body transformations brand was continuing to grow so we knew we had to find a new location. After months of looking I finally found the perfect place in Clongiffin.
It took us a year and a half of negotiating to finally seal the deal. We are going from 3,500 sq foot to 6,500 sq foot. 4 studios, a treatment room, proper changing facilities, an office, reception and coffee area. Its an absolute dream come true and I couldn’t be happier!
I started out my career in IT, like Richie my passion has always been in fitness. After a trip to Australia I decided it was time to change career and work in a job that I loved.
My first job was in slender health in Raheny. I worked there teaching classes and personal training for 5 years. During my time there I returned to college to study neuromuscular physical therapy.
Once I was qualified I knew it was time for me to go out on my own. I had heard of Richie Carrick and the Ayrfiend boxing club. I rang my friend Connor White from image fitness to enquire about joining forces with him. He set up a meeting and I instantly knew we would get on like a house on fire. Both he and I have the same work ethic and passion for what we do.
The 1st studio in Baldoyle Industrial estate was above a garage. It was one big room where we manage to teach classes and PT but as the brand was growing we knew it was time for a change.
We moved into our second premises in Feb 2013. Although this was a better move we still felt like we needed something more professional. After months of meetings and phone calls we finally signed for our new premises in Clongriffin. It has everything we could ever dream of. It’s sometimes hard to believe how far we have come in such a short space of time. But just proves that hard work and determination certainly pays off.
